What are Chrome extensions?
Extensions let you customize Google Chrome with features you like, while keeping your browser free of clutter that you don't use. This feature added in Google Chrome 4.0 stable version, it's a great way to add more features and functionality to the browser.
Extensions Requirements:
Windows: Google Chrome 4.0 stable version
Linux: Google Chrome beta version
How to get/install Chrome Extensions?
- Visit Google official extensions gallery by visiting https://chrome.google.com/extensions.
- Browse or search the gallery for extensions. Once you find an extension you want to install, click its link to go to its home page.
- On the home page, you can see quick statistics and user comments about the extension. Click Install to download the extension.
- A dialog will inform you about the data and functionality that the extension will be able to access. Click Install to continue.
You can also download the extensions from other third sites (Ex:
Download Extensions from ChromeFans.org). If you download an extension from outside the Google gallery, you'll be asked to confirm the download in the Downloads bar.
How to disable extensions
If you'd like to temporarily turn off an extension, disable it on the Extensions page. Click the Tools menu, select Extensions, then click Disable for the extension you'd like to temporarily remove.
How to uninstall extensions
Click the Tools menu, select Extensions, then click Disable for the extension you'd like to completely remove.
Tips: To visit the extensions page, you can also type chrome://extensions/ in the address ba.
